I wish I could somehow convince unbelievers that following Christ is nothing like the world wants you to think. It's not rigorous rules and pointing fingers. It's actually more hippy dippy than it is legalistic. It's the desire to love and help others even when that's not the easiest thing to do. It's trying to see the whole picture without judging anyone. It's becoming that one person who just won't give up on the person that has ruined relationships with everyone else.
It's understanding your vulnerability and using your weaknesses to empathize and relate to others. It's recognizing your need for a Savior because you know you cannot do this alone. It's sacrificing your time and talents to help others because that's what brings you the most happiness.
It's transforming who you used to be into who you were created to be. It doesn't happen over night, but little by little our bad habits and vices are chipped away and replaced by fruits of the spirit. Maybe we don't even realize the depth of the change until we look back. I am not the same person I was 6 years ago. I am so grateful that this is the version of me that my kids get to know.
We are all here for a purpose and life doesn't really have much meaning until you understand what you were created to do. We have been called to make a difference within our unique spheres of influence. We have all been given specific talents and gifts to help bless others.
I hope you know the love of God and have a relationship with Christ. If you don't, I wish I knew the perfect combination of words to convince you to reach out to him. Because you really will not understand until you experience it for yourself. It is real. The relationship you can have with Jesus is not a make believe friend. It's not just a feel good energy that you convince yourself is real. It IS real. Anyone that knows Christ can vouch for that. If you only believe, you will see prayers answered and chains broken. You will move in boldness and courage in a way that you never imagined possible. You will see God move in your life in supernatural ways. When you pray for wisdom and discernment you will begin to understand why the world is the way it is, and you will have a hope for eternity.
"Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near." Isaiah 55:6
If you feel a tug at your heart, turn to him before it's too late. I'm sorry if the church has hurt you before in the past, or if someone has abused you in a way that's made you believe God is not real. He is here and he's waiting, and he loves you so much.
